I used to be afraid of how people would judge me if they knew that I could see and speak to those beyond the physical world. But that fear only made me more depressed. Today I have realised that when I respect myself more, the right connections flow more easily into my life.

In this painting, I depicted Kiora, my spirit guide, reminding me to stay true to myself by connecting back to my roots in an island in Indonesia.

RINKABY

Batik and mixed media

120 x 90 cm

2018

This painting is inspired by my vacation at an Airbnb cottage in Rinkaby. It was a very magical experience for me - it was located in a large forest which was so quiet I could only hear birds singing, and I would admire the beautiful sunsets during my boat rides and from the living room.

This is the first time I have successfully blended acrylic with fabric dyes and beeswax to portray the tranquility and divinity of the surroundings.
